Been here since your Light by Coco days! Will always follow you on whichever platform you choose as I know I can always trust what you say 🤍

Thank you so much!! It means so much to me that you trust what I say, mainly because I long for online spaces where we can get genuine recommendations from other likeminded people.. and not sponsored stuff. It's a huge compliment to hear that I'm offering that myself

I love this! It's one of the reasons I decided I wanted to go back to making YouTube content, mostly old school, sit down videos, with little vlogs thrown in, and why I've now also started a substack. I have ideas and thoughts to share, but being seen on Instagram to share those ideas means removing the substance and being taken wrong because I'm unable to give my full take. Thank you for sharing this 💗

Yessss! exactly this!

A million times yes. Every word, my friend. I felt every word of this in my heart! Thanks again. This post along with an email from my favorite natural skincare (small business in AZ) telling me they would no longer be selling on Amazon have been the highlights of my week!! We're not battling, we're quietly and peacefully reclaiming and remembering.

Thank _you_! This comment gave me goosebumps (in a good way!)

same here, been with you since Light by Coco :) really appreciate calm, order and logic your post bring! and agree, Instagram takes too much of my attention span / create mindless scrolling habit that I decided consciously to step out (or limit my time to 15 min a day max!)

Thanks for sharing your decision. I'm glad you are able to find a way to working that feels right to you.

I'll just offer another take on short-form content, in case you are interested. For medical reasons, (severe brain fog due to medical issues and medication), I currently have difficulty taking in long-form content, and I rely on short-form content more. I have found your Instagram posts the perfect bite-sized bits of information that I can process easily and are not mentally overwhelming.

I love your Instagram content for that reason. Your "essentials" pouch was the start for me. I now have my own essentials pouch for my hospital go-bag, and I'm grateful you shared yours. I have learned a lot from your Instagram posts, and have implement many of your ideas.

I know that most people are not in my situation, and I understand why you are doing what you are doing. However, please don't think that your Instagram posts were all wasted efforts. They helped me a lot, and probably helped others too. I know that many women are overwhelmed by the double shift, and some may also find it easier to take in information through sort-form content.

I am wishing the best of luck in your new direction!

Thank you for sharing this. Having information available in different formats is definitely more accessible, and while making instagram content is exhausting for me, I do want to keep this in mind. Moving forward I will make an effort to strike a balance within my long-form content: I’ll use more headers/bullet points to hopefully make it more digestible. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks so much, Coco. That sounds great.

Yes. Join us. Too many creatives tricked by Meta into thinking they need it.

Thank you for taking those brave first steps!

Thanks to you too, because i have so far awaited the rush of others to also do it and started to think ... Jesus, am I seriously the only one?

Emma Young's avatar

Not the ONLY one obviously, but it has been starting to feel a little lonely. In my naivety I thought the exodus might be a little bigger, a little quicker.

Omg yes, the relative ease of switching (just sign up and start posting) is so deceptive! It shouldn't be this hard, but we are so entangled with these platforms, that giving them up feels like letting go of not just a community but also an identity.
